WAT VISOUN

Wat Visoun is the oldest temple in Luang Prabang, built in 1513. If you are a lover of spiritual tourism, when traveling to Laos, don’t miss Wat Visoun! This is the oldest Buddhist temple in Luang Prabang and used to be the city’s Religious Art Museum. You can see religious artifacts and precious items related to Buddhism and the royal family in this temple. Inside the temple are several ancient stone and gilded Buddha statues dating back to the 15th century. The stones were donated by Prince Phetsarat after the invasion of the Black Haw bandits.

WAT XIENGTHONG

Wat Xiengthong in Lao means “Temple of the Golden City”, the temple was built in the 1560s during the reign of King Setthathirat – a golden age of the Lanxang Kingdom, also known as the Million Elephants. Wat Xiengthong is known as the oldest and most sacred temple in Laos because of the cultural and artistic values ​​of the Lanxang dynasty that we have preserved. NAHM DONG PARK

PAK OU CAVES

Near Pak Ou (mouth of the Ou river) the Tham Ting (lower cave) and the Tham Theung (upper cave) are caves overlooking the Mekong River, 25 km to the north of Luang Prabang, Laos. They are a group of two caves on the west side of the Mekong river, about two hours upstream from the centre of Luang Prabang, and are frequently visited by tourists.The caves are noted for their miniature Buddha sculptures. Hundreds of very small and mostly damaged wooden Buddhist figures are laid out over the wall shelves. They take many different positions, including meditation, teaching, walking, naga, peace, rain, and reclining.

KUANG SI FALLS

Kuang Si Falls is known for its milky turquoise waters. There are multiple pools scattered throughout the area; the main pool has rope swings, and an overhanging tree limb from which you can jump into the water. There’s also lookout point just a short hike away, which offers panoramic views of Lao’s countryside. The falls are easily accessible and are beautiful throughout the day but visit early for fewer crowds. There are changing facilities, and several eateries in the area where you can relax and take in the views.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to visit Luang Prabang is from November to March when the weather is comfortably dry with pleasant average temperatures. It can also get somewhat crowded, especially in January and during festivals, so be sure to book ahead if you’re traveling during this time of the year.
